Two Scholars Successfully Defend Doctoral Dissertations at the Institute of Forestry
In a significant academic milestone for the Institute of Forestry (IoF), Tribhuvan University, Mr. Ganesh Raj Acharya and Mr. Ram Bhichari Thakur have successfully defended their doctoral dissertations on 9th and 10th February 2026.
- Mr. Ganesh Raj Acharya successfully completed his viva voce for his research titled "Climate change adaptation strategy, livelihood, and resilience in community forest user groups: Study from Dang District, Nepal" which explores local solutions and livelihood resilience within community forest user groups in dang district.
- Mr. Ram Bichari Thakur reached this final stage with his thesis focusing on the "Natural Regeneration in Sal (Shorea robusta Gaertner f.) forest under Shelterwood System." examining critical regeneration patterns following felling and the effectiveness of shelterwood management systems in Nepal's low land.
These defenses, conducted at the IoF Dean Office, Kathmandu, contribute vital data to Nepal's national forestry research repository and support the country's ongoing efforts in sustainable forest management and climate resilience.
